Just one question...  Where's mine?  

I can't eat my computer monitor here.  

The pictures were so good that my mouth was already getting ready to taste the sushi.  I had to remind my taste buds these were photos.

a point and shoot is for close up capability and to reduce bokeh. My style of food pictures is to be informative first and to induce saliva in the viewers. Hence, no dreamy full of bokeh food, I want it 3/4 clear, close up, with the right white balance. c...

The quality of the seafood The quality of the rice The quality of the sake That last photo turned out very nice... love the color and reflection. Sometimes I slip into a favorite spinning sushi shop for a "fast food" lunch I normally have take-out on Sund...

of a photo forum, you should comment my pictures, not on the subject of sushi :). But as the residence god of this forum, you may indeed talk as you please :). But seriously, what's your suggestion for me to improve my photo technique? Side note, luckily ...

and thanks for being specific on what kind of feedback you want to hear... - the surround... it's about the food, but the setting / context is very much a part of the story it's good to focus in, but also include some perspective ... and behind the scenes...

That's a lot of comments, I'll try to remember them the next time another opportunity arises. Although the comment regarding the angle and lighting is a bit difficult to do in a serious sushi restaurant. Basically you are glued to your seat and the sushi ...

shaded partially the light for some shots, I don't know how low the light was, but some of the first pictures (2nd 3rd) it looks very very flat to the point of not making the food look good to me :) I love this food so I am biased to like these pictures!!... 

You might try looking for Japanese restaurants

that serve Asahi-Shuzo Brewing Company "Kubota" Sake (朝日酒造 - 久保田) and you might find good Japanese food ;-) If they care enough to import good sake, then maybe the food is also good... and if not you can still enjoy a great sake... Casey

At least I suck at it ! LOL Difficult to make the food desirable and lighting in most restaurants makes it challenging. Bokeh can sometimes be good ... To my eye at least.

your judgement... Are you sure my pictures are that good? :) Honestly, after reading their comments, and taking another look at the pictures, I realised what they were commenting. Even though I am at lost on how to improve pics in a live restaurant. Must ...
