Figure 2: side view of the studio arrangement

A studio arrangement and a method of capturing images and/or video includes:
1) a front light source aimed at a background
2) an image capture position located between the background and the front light source
3) an elevated platform positioned between the image capture position and the background
4) at least one rear light source positioned between the elevated platform and the background

Figure 1: top view of a studio arrangement

Ref.101 - an elevated platform is configured with a top surface made of a material that can include, but is not limited to a plastic, such as Poly(methyl methacrylate), which is commonly known as "plexiglass", and/or any other materials that possess a degree of transparency as well as reflectivity. Such a material produces an effect in images and/or video of the subject such that a reflection of the subject appears beneath the subject, but where the top surface of the elevated platform blends seamlessly into a true white background.

Ref.104 - a subject can be positioned and be photographed and/or filmed.  A subject can comprise a model, product, or any object desired to be photographed and/or filmed.

Additionally, light reflecting off the background and into an image capture device positioned in the appropriate position in the studio arrangement causes the top surface of the elevated platform Ref.101 to likewise have a true white appearance. Also, a rear edge of the elevated platform also appears imperceptible or not visible to the image capture device due to the positioning, configuration, and orientation of the various elements in the studio arrangement. It should be appreciated that a background of any color may be chosen and due to the positioning of the various elements in the studio arrangement, light emanating from the background reflects off of the top surface of the elevated platform Ref.101, into an image capture device positioned according to the disclosure, and causes the top surface of the elevated platform to appear the same color as the background.

It should be appreciated that the desired effect can be achieved by employing one or more rear light sources and one or more front light where the ratio of the intensity of the rear light sources to the front light source is approximately 10:3.

According to the patent, you end up with a reflection of the subject on the platform, and the lighting ratio makes the top surface blend seamlessly with the background (color)...

Note to self: get a clean piece of Plexiglas... scratches very easy

Thanks Anthony, the lighting ratio is off...

in the down and dirty example image that I posted. I have to do some more testing, but for certain subjects the effect could be quite nice... I was surprised that a studio arrangement could be patented, but evidently it's possible... My next tests will be...

love to see the updated...
