I was faced with either a more angled upward looking shot, or flatter forward looking one. I'm glad I chose the angled upward perspective. Thanks for your comments!

As too much above and you get the intrusion and disruption of a modern skyline. This tighter crop maintains an ancient purity while still giving a sense of depth and massiveness. Thanks for your encouragement!

suggest that the wall is for protection. but then the stronger impression i get is that it is hiding something from the outside world. the last one is interesting as it made me think on what side of the wall i was viewing it. an impressive structure, defi... 

Number two for the monolithic proportion characterized by massiveness, total uniformity, rigidity, and invulnerability... the duel aspects of inclusion and exclusion. Number four for the clear perspective of both sides... when seen from above. All in all ... 

I was out for an early morning exploratory walk and happened on the wall. I didn't expect it, and more, I didn 't expect to be able to go up on top! Everything fell into place, literally and figuratively. Thanks for making it the masthead! TM
