Solitary Man

I'm not much of a fan of too much post processing or digital filters, but vintage vignette seemed to work for this pic.

It's a bit apocalyptic, Thomas, but you don't seem concerned!

I'm also reminded of a quote from legendary Texas populist politician, Jim Hightower, who said: There's nothing in the middle of the Road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos. Add Thomas to the list! I like it. CaliforniaJed

My first thought was how to save this old photograph ;-) Great timeless location, and good for you that you stopped the car and got out... That seeming slow pace (and lack of traffic) also comes across in the photo. No hat, working man's t-shirt, and mayb...

Thanks for your detailed observations and comments!

You should consider a second career as a therapist! "Helping my patients realize what they didn't know they were thinking..." Amazing, really...dead on nailed it; what I saw and felt AFTER the fact... TM

maybe one of the overlooked aspects of photography...

One overlooked aspect of photography might be that once the photo is taken, the photographer, for the most part, stands in front of the image just like the rest of us. Hahaha, maybe there was a truck rushing toward you and you were hurrying like crazy to ...

Great additional comments. I've always been fascinated by these meta issues...

And you are right, whatever we might have been seeing, intending, consciously or sub-consciously, before the shutter is pressed; the photographer gets to relive the moment in another perspective, a rare luxury in life. Although, with the ease of post proc...

That's an excellent photo

i kinnda see "close encounters" kinda feel with this... a bit like the terminator after being transported to earth thru time...only you are dressed... cool photo nonetheless...

Interesting comments. The filter was supposed to give a vintage, aged look

To the composition, but I can see how the warmth can convey apocalypse, even post muclear or global warming disaster. Thanks for your comments!

Interesting that you seem to be walking...

most pics this type, the subject in the center is usually just standing, waiting for the camera to "click". makes me think somebody else was taking the pic? vintage treatment is nice. goes well with the t-shirt! also thinking, "wonder what car TM drove to...

Thanks, Echi. Coming from the master of documentary shots it means alot.
